Field Pea Values Ease

PANAMA - Jul 24/16 - SNS -- International field pea markets finished the weeks unchanged in to easier, with spot markets mostly dropping into new crop trading levels against harvest activity in Europe and the United States.

Markets were also influenced by progress seeding this year's monsoon or kharif season pulse crops in India. As of July 22, farmers have planted 9.02 million hectares of pulses, up from 7.26 million at this time last year and well above the recent five-year average of 5.98 million hectares sown by the third week of July.

July is the most important period for planting the kharif crop, with farmers normally seeding 57% of the crop during the month.
