Demand Helps Beans Outside N. America

PANAMA - Jun 11/16 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone through the past week against good demand for colored beans.

However, with the focus on origins such as China and Argentina, North American markets started to transition into new crop pricing. This was reflected in the U.S. spot index for beans, which finished the week down 3.4 points at 149.5 points.

The world pulse price index also finished lower on the week, dropping 2.9 points to finish at 242.4. At the same time, the Canadian index dropped 2.2 points to close at 240.3. The Canadian index has been trending lower since the beginning of May as markets transition into a new crop footing.
