World Bean Markets Drop

VANCOUVER - May 15/15 - SNS -- The world's dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a softer note against improved availability of new crop merchandise from Argentina and other supplies.

This was most obvious in white bean markets, with asking prices for Argentine and Egyptian product collapsing under U.S. $900 per metric ton (MT) for the first time since July of 2010.

By contrast, North American markets were unchanged. This was reflected in the spot price index for U.S. origin pulses, which was unchanged on on the week at 150.9.
