Modest Drop in World Pea Output
VANCOUVER - Dec 6/14 - SNS -- Production estimates from Australia and Canada suggest world field pea production will be down slightly from last year, slipping 1% to 10.71 million metric tons (MT).
Crops in both countries ended up smaller than expected, with Australia's field pea harvest pegged at 268,000 MT and Canada's at 3.445 million.
Final production numbers will not be available for the United States until the USDA releases its final estimates for 2014 on January 12. Little change is expected.
