Sorghum Yield Forecast Boosted

WASHINGTON Nov 10/14 - SNS -- Sorghum production is forecast at 408 million bushels, up 1% from last month and up 5% from last year, according to the latest USDA crop report.

Area harvested for grain is forecast at 6.17 million acres, unchanged from October but down 5% from 2013. Based on November 1 conditions, yield is forecast at 66.1 bushels per acre, up 0.7 bushel from last month and up 6.5 bushels from last year.

As of November 2, sorghum harvest was 65% complete, 9 percentage points behind last year and 5 percentage points behind the five-year average.
