U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - May 5/14 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                       National Weekly Rice Summary
                 (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California)
                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, long and medium grain rice prices mostly steady; parboiled prices
steady; second heads and brewers steady.  Rice by-products: rice bran steady to 10.00
lower; rice millfeed 5.00 to 10.00 lower; hulls steady to 5.00 lower.  Rough rice
prices mostly steady.  Texas farmers looking at water allocation issues when it comes
to urban vs rural.  Rice planting continues in the south as majority of farmers are
par with the 5 year averages.
   In California, medium grain milled rice prices mostly steady; short grain milled
rice prices not established; second heads prices steady to 2.00 lower; brewers prices
Steady to 1.00 lower.  Rice by-products: rice bran prices firm; hulls mostly steady.
Rough rice prices steady to weak.  California farmers looking to receive more
allocated irrigation water than previously expected.  Rice by-product export markets
showing some strength.
   On the CME closes for Friday May 2nd, Rough Rice futures for July settled .025
lower at 15.49.  The September settled .02 lower at 14.52.
