U.S. Pea Seeding Makes Good Progress

VANCOUVER - Apr 28/14 - SNS -- Seeding of this year's field pea crops is making relatively good progress in the United States.

Farmers in North Dakota were unable to make much progress seeding pulses and other crops because of wet and cool conditions across most of the state. Once farmers can get in their fields, they will be seeding into 98% adequate to surplus topsoil moisture conditions.

Seeding of peas, lentils and other pulses is also advancing at a slower than normal pace in Montana. However, farmers have made much progress than at this time last year. Topsoil moisture conditions remain good across the state, with 75% of soils rated adequate and 10% surplus, down from 88% adequate to surplus last week but up from 69% at this time last year.
