Some Surprise in Pea Intentions
VANCOUVER - Apr 26/14 - SNS -- Canadian field pea markets finished the week's trading on a mixed note, with market participants reported a modest improvement in export trading activity for green and yellow peas.
Markets were slightly surprised by the intention of Canadian farmers to increase land in field peas by 21% to 3.975 million acres.
A quarter of the peas will be grown in Alberta, while farmers in Saskatchewan are placing more emphasis on lentils than peas.
