U.S. Moisture Outlook Improves

VANCOUVER - Apr 5/14 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, despite an improved moisture outlook in California and other parts of the United States.

Limited trading was reported in spot markets as tight supplies for most origins kept trading on a hand to mouth basis. Limited new crop activity was reported in baby lima and other classes of U.S. origin beans at moderate discounts to spot markets.

Markets were not surprised by the USDA seeding intentions report, which revealed farmers in the United States intend to boost edible bean area 24% to 1.69 million acres.
