France Export Pace Holds Steady

VANCOUVER - Feb 7/14 - SNS -- Field pea exports from France continued maintained their relatively steady pace in December, with shipments during the first half of France's 2013-14 marketing year up 38% from the period last season, according to data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).

Export shipments in December totalled 19,625 metric tons (MT), up 2% from the 19,195 MT shipped the same month last year, and up 15% from the 17,035 shipped the previous month.

Most peas were shipped to European destinations, with Belgium the most important, followed by Italy and the Netherlands. There were no reports of pea shipments to India, but Egypt was the fourth most important destination, taking 1,430 MT.
