Beans Retain Firm Tone

VANCOUVER - Jan 11/14 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, helped by a fundamental shortage of medium and large caliber white beans.

Colored bean markets were helped by indications Brazil's coming harvest will be excellent for quality, but smaller than needed.

There is some doubt whether the country will be able to bridge the gap until new crop black beans are available from Argentina.
