California Rice Stocks Jump
WASHINGTON - Oct 29/13 - SNS -- Rough rice stocks in California totaled 2.93 million hundredweight (cwt or 100 pound units) on October 1, up 18% from last year, according to the USDA.
California rough rice stocks were down 64% from the August 1, 2013 level. Medium grain varieties accounted for 69% of the total rough rice, while long and short varieties combined to account for 31% of the total rough rice stocks.
California milled rice stocks in all positions totaled 1.21 million cwt, down 9% from the August 1, 2013 level and 16% below a year ago.
