Winter Weather Worries Beaners

VANCOUVER Oct 6/13 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets were little changed in relatively light trading activity during the past week.

Winter weather systems sweeping through southwest and south-central North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Nebraska left markets anxious because this year's harvest is not complete. October snowfall records were broken in much of South Dakota.

A significant fraction of the crop has yet to be harvested, but it is unclear what percentage was covered by the storms. Temperatures were expected to return to normal, which will melt the snow, making it easier to learn whether crop quality and/or yields were damaged.
