Grower Selling Inches Ahead of Demand

VANCOUVER - Sep 28/13 - SNS -- International field pea markets finished the week with a softer undertone against aggressive selling by growers in Canada who are trying to cope with a bumper harvest of all crops.

As the week got underway, only 1% of the pea crop was still maturing in fields. The balance was either in the bin or ready to be cut. The implication was that the frost events early in the week had no material impact on crop quality.

Facing excellent yields for all crops, farmers have been trying to hard to move product. Shortages of bin space and temporary bags for storage leave people little choice.
