Canadian Pea Prices Under Pressure

VANCOUVER - Aug 23/13 - SNS -- Field pea markets posted significant week over week declines in Canada as this year's harvest pushed forward in Saskatchewan and Statistics Canada reported the country is looking at its third largest pea crop in history.

Markets were helped by the fact weather forecasts through the end of the month are good, forecasting warm and dry days and overnigth temperatures which are well above freezing.

By contrast, markets in the United States finished the week on a mostly defensive note, with asking prices generally holding a premium to Canadian.
