Pea Markets Stumble Over Statistics

VANCOUVER - Aug 17/13 - SNS -- North America field pea markets finished the week's trading on a mixed note against seasonally light trading interest.

New crop supplies improved on the basis on ongoing harvest activity in the United States. That fundamental improvement in supply was helped by anticipation of delivers in Saskatchewan because of initial harvest activity in the province.

Markets are looking forward to Wednesday's production estimates from Statistics Canada. It would not be surprising if the report revealed Canada was on the verge of harvesting the second largest pea crop in the country's history.
