Slow Finish to France's Marketing Campaign

VANCOUVER - Aug 13/13 - SNS -- The pace of field pea export movement from France Was down sharply in June, dropping below both month- and year-earlier shipping volumes, according to data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).

Export shipments in June totalled 12,910 metric tons (MT), down almost three-quarters from the 47,665 shipped in May, and less than half the 29,305 MT shipped the same month last year. This lifted export shipments for the 2012-13 marketing year to 198,305 MT, compared to 348,220 MT during the previous season.

Europe destinations remained the most important during the month, accounting for at least 98.8% of total field pea exports.
