New Crop Arrivals Ease Peas

VANCOUVER - Aug 10/13 - SNS -- Canadian field pea markets finished the week on an easier note in response to the availability of new crop peas in Alberta and limited demand from the Indian subcontinent.

Both quality and yields are good, with the latter reported between 2,400 and 3,000 pounds per acre.

Processors said farmers seem inclined to accept current bid levels for peas because per acre returns are perceived as being competitive with other crops.
