This is the second week in a row that the pace of seeding pulses has exceeded last year's progress. Land in pulses is now 9.2% above the 7.279 million hectares planted by this time last year, but just slightly behind the recent five-year average of 7.967 million hectares.

The early onset of this year's monsoon and the fact rainfall accumulations are 17% above this time last year has contributed to faster kharif season seeding progress, with the result total area is now 2.7 million hectares above the recent five-year average.
