Strong Finish For Edible Beans

VANCOUVER - Jul 27/13 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets finished the week on a strong note against expectations of buying from Cuba, Venezuela and potentially Mexico.

This was reflected in the U.S. spot market index for dry edible beans, which finished the week up two points at 1546. The grower index was also higher on the week, rising 12 points to finish at 1395.

Estimated production in Mexico was ut 100,000 metric tons (MT) in the latest review by the U.S. agricultural attache for the country. This is expected to result in a material increase in imports, with the Mexican government keenly interested in diversifying the sources of supply to keep prices lower.
