South Africa Bean Crop Improves

VANCOUVER - Jul 25/13 - SNS -- Average yield forecasts for South Africa's 2012-13 summer bean crop improved significantly in the latest crop production estimates released by the South Africa Grain Information Service (SAGIS).

This year's harvest is now expected to reach 60,200 metric tons (MT), up from the previous estimate of 58,580 MT and last year's 47,695 MT harvest result.

Production remains well below the country's annual consumption needs, pointing to continued demand for speckled beans from China and pulses from other origins.
