Few Changes in Pea Markets

VANCOUVER - May 31/13 - SNS -- North American field pea markets were little changed in the face of tightening supplies on farms and ongoing efforts to finish planting this year's crops.

The week started with more than three-quarters of Canada's pea crop in the ground, but there remains a risk up to 8% of the intended area will not be planted.

The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports deliveries to the licensed primary elevator system by farmers totaled just 17,000 metric tons (MT) for the week ending May 26, compared to the season to date weekly average of 43,563 MT.
