Argentine Woes Support Beans

VANCOUVER - May 31/13 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a firm note in response to ongoing problems with South American production.

This was partly reflected in the U.S. spot market index for dry edible beans, which finished the week unchanged at 1323. The grower index was also unchanged on the week, finishing at 1222.

Argentine processors and exporters are trying to decide whether to declare that a force majeure situation exists for this year's white alubia bean harvest.
