South Africa Bean Yield Improve

VANCOUVER - May 23/13 - SNS -- Average yields for South Africa's 2012-13 summer crops continues to decline, with the South Africa Grain Information Service (SAGIS) reducing forecast production levels for a wide range of crops.

By contrast, dry edible bean yields continue to show improvement. Seeded area was left unchanged at 43,550 hectares, but this year's production forecast was increased from 56,100 metric tons (MT) to 57,780.

By contrast, dry weather in the Free State and North West provinces continue to hurt forecast production levels for all other summer crops.
