Canada's Bulk Pea Exports Slow

VANCOUVER - May 13/13 - SNS -- The pace of field pea exports from Canada has slowed after peaking in March, but remains the average monthly pace set between November and February.

Unofficial data suggests 120,400 metric tons (MT) of peas could have been loaded to bulk conventional vessels from licensed terminals in Vancouver in April.

Bulk movement in the four months spanning January through April, represents 48% of all pea movement since the August start of the Canada's marketing year. Overall movement of field peas is normally strongest between harvest the end of the December, suggesting this season's movement profile is atypical.
