Argentine Crop Fears Support Beans

VANCOUVER - May 4/13 - SNS -- The world's dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone through the past week.

Markets are supported both by ongoing worries about the prospective size of Argentina's crops and the slow start to seeding activity in key growing areas in the United States.

These issues were partly reflected in the U.S. spot market index for dry edible beans, which finished the week up one point at 1315. The grower index was also slightly firmer on the week, gaining three points to finish at 1230.

International black bean markets finished the week on a strong note. Markets for Chinese origin product firmed through the past week against buying interest from Cuba and Venezuela.
