Canadian Intentions Deemed Low For Beans

VANCOUVER - Apr 27/13 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets were surprised by Statistics Canada’s seeding intentions estimates for 2013 because acreage was expected to be somewhat higher.

The report said farmers planned to seed 205,000 acres of white and colored beans.

However, Statistics Canada only estimated land in colored beans in Manitoba, saying the could drop from 75,000 to 45,000 acres. Last year, that province grew 60,000 acres of white or navy beans.
