WASHINGTON - Mar 28/13 - SNS -- Sorghum growers in the United States intend to plant 7.62 million acres of sorghum for all purposes in 2013, up 22% from last year, according to the USDA's seeding intentions estimates for 2013.
Kansas and Texas are the leading sorghum States and account for 77% of the expected United States acreage.
As of March 24, Texas growers had planted 33% of their crop, 3 percentage points ahead of last year but the same as the 5-year average.
