Few Changes in Edible Beans

VANCOUVER - Jan 18/13 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets were little changed on the week against improved buying by Brazil and a somewhat defensive posture among exporters.

This was reflected in the spot price index for U.S. beans, which gained four points on the week to finish at 1330, similar to the three point gain recorded in the grower bid index, which finished at 1285.

While bean production in Brazil is at levels which should make it easier for importers to wait for better prices, there are indications the quality of the current harvest is below normal.
