Myanmar Exports Surge in May

WASHINGTON jul 14/12 - SNS -- Dry edible bean and other pulse exports from Myanmar surged in May, jumping 33% over last year to 209,040 metric tons (MT).

Of this total, 60% went to India or 125,671 MT, followed by Singapore with 14% or 29,752 MT, and Vietnam 6% or 13,259 MT. Year–to-date exports for 2012 are 700,523 MT, 42% greater than last year’s 493,986 MT.

Matpe (black gram) accounted for 44% of the total exports, followed by mung bean 24% and toor whole 17%. Year–to-date exports for 2012 are 700,523 MT, 42% greater than last year with 493,986 MT.
