Millet Plantings Drop 15%WASHINGTON - Jun 29/12 - SNS -- Area planted to proso millet in 2012 is estimated at 315,000 acres, down 55,000 acres from 2011, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2012. Planted acreage decreased from last year in Colorado and Nebraska mainly due to dry soil conditions at planting. Market participants also believe competition from other crops was a factor this year.
