India Remains Largest Buyer of French Peas
VANCOUVER - Dec 8/11 - SNS -- French field pea export movement continued at a relatively strong pace through October, rising above both year and month earlier levels, according to the latest data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).
Exports during the month totalled 33,045 metric tons (MT), up from the 32,215 MT shipped in September, and up from the 20,330 MT of field peas exported the same month the previous year.
This lifts field pea exports so far during the 2011-12 marketing year to 124,885 MT, versus 146,030 MT during the same period last season. Almost 46% of the peas expected to be shipped from France this season moved in the July through October period, up four points for movement during the same period last season.
