Strong Tone in beans
VANCUVER - Sep 30/11 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets maintained their strong tone during the past week, with asking prices for North American origin product continuing the advance.
Interestingly, strength in inter-dealer markets is not translating into strong grower bids. While the spot market index for U.S. origin beans closed 17 points on the week at 1641, the index for grower bids was unchanged at 1549 points.
More interestingly, the spread between the two markets has been widening in recent years.
