Firm Finish in World Beans

VANCOUVER - Sep 23/11 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a firm note, with white beans continuing to strengthen, while colored beans were sideways to firmer.

Markets in Canada and the United States continue to be supported by the slow pace of this year’s harvest. Processors in California, for instance, report their harvest is only 30% complete.

This helped lift the spot market index for U.S. origin beans 22 points on the week to allow it to finish at 1624. Similarly, the index for grower bids jumped 92 points on the week to finish at 1549 points.
