Movement Keeps Peas Firm

VANCOUVER - May 27/11 - SNS -- Fresh tenders for field peas combined with moderate demand from the Indian subcontinent and other destinations to keep field pea markets firm on the week.

Markets found limited support from deeppening concerns over the impact seeding delays will have on the final field pea area in Canad and the United States.

While plantings advanced at a near normal pace in Alberta, wet soils delayed seeding in Saskatchewan, Montana and North Dakota. That is the area where the bulk of the North American pea and lentil crop is grown.
