South Africa Bean Estimate Unchanged

VANCOUVER - May 24/11 - SNS -- This season's dry edible bean production estimate for South Africa was left unchanged in the latest summer crop report from the South Africa Grain Information Service (SAGIS).

Dry edible bean production is expected to total 47,620 metric tons (MT) from 41,900 hectares, with yields averaging 1,140 kilograms per hectare. This is down from last year's 52,255 MT harvest from 44,100 hectares.

Looking at other crops, SAGIS said this year's sunflower crop should end up at 809,470 MT from 642,700 hectares, with an expected yield of 1,260 kilograms per hectare.
