Uneasy Finish For Pea Markets

VANCOUVER - May 7/11 - SNS -- North American field pea markets finished the week's trading on an uneasy note against easing demand from India and slightly higher than expected pea stocks in Canada.

Markets in the United States were disappointed by the cancellation of the USDA PL-480 food aid tender invitation 051, which was seeking offers of 17,460 metric tons (MT) of whole and split yellow peas for movement from origin shipping points in June.

The USDA said the cancellation resulted from a "change in program requirements". However, it was followed by the release of invitation 200000014, requesting offers of 9,200 MT of whole and split yellow peas, also for movement from origin in June.
