Mixed Week in Edible Beans

VANCOUVER - Apr 15/11 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets posted a mixed finish on the week, with some classes of beans showing a weaker undertone on international markets, while others were firmer.

While new crop beans will soon be available from Argentina and China remains an aggressive seller of old crop beans, markets are becoming more concerned with forecast acreage reductions in Canada and the United States.

This tension was reflected in the spot market index for dry edible beans in the United States, which rose three points on the week to finish at 1229. Meanwhile, the index for grower bids was up 44 points at 1088.
