Unsettled Finish For Peas

VANCOUVER - Apr 9/11 - SNS -- International field pea markets finished the week's trading on unsettled note against confirmation that the 2010-11 pulse harvest in India set a new record as well as the expectation state trading companies would dramatically reduce their tender activity.

News that France was planting fewer peas than last year was welcomed by market participants, who had feared the country's subsidy for peas fed to livestock would have caused another expansion in seeded area this year.

The potential for reduced competition on human consumption markets was welcome news, given expectations that Indian imports will be down in the coming months.
