Short Term Easing in Pea Prices

VANCOUVER - Mar 18/11 - SNS -- Field pea markets finished the week's trading on a slightly easier note as grower selling interest remains slightly ahead of the short term needs of processors and exporters.

Markets in the United States are helped by ongoing buying of yellow split peas by the USDA for shipment as food aid. During the week, the USDA bought another 11,150 metric tons (MT) for shipment from origin processing plants during April.

In Canada, additional bulk conventional vessels were nominated to pull peas from Vancouver through the first part of April.
