Mixed Finish For Field Peas

VANCOUVER - Mar 13/11 - SNS -- North American field pea markets ended the week on a mixed note, with Canadian values easing in the face of slower export demand and U.S. values holding firm against tight processing capacity.

The past week saw the USDA tender to buy another 1,470 metric tons (MT) of yellow split peas for shipment from origin during the last half of the month for prepositioning at Gulf ports for eventual use in PL-480 food aid programs.

By contrast, Canadian processors are worried the less aggressive posture by exporters may signal that movement has finally started to slow.
