Pea Extend Record Export Season

VANCOUVER - Mar 3/11 - SNS -- Canadian field pea exports maintained their record setting pace through the end of February, for the third month in a row setting a new record and keeping season to date shipments at their highest level in the history of the industry in Canada.

The 2011 calendar year started with port clearances for the first two months of the year setting a new record at 396,716 metric tons (MT), besting the previous best total for those two months by 123,000 MT.

This lifted field pea shipments for the first seven months of the 2010-11 marketing year to 1,555,857 MT, roughly 632,000 MT above the same period last season.
