VANCOUVER - Feb 18/11 - SNS -- Field pea markets finished the week's trading on a generally strong note against steady demand from exporters and government food aid buyers.
In the United States, the latest round of USDA PL-480 food aid buying has contributed to a steep increase in yellow pea markets, with several processors now asking more for yellow than green peas.
Canadian exporters have an unusually strong program underway through March, with enough vessels currently nominated to load almost 272,000 metric tons (MT) of peas.
