Pea Extend Record Export Season

VANCOUVER - Feb 2/11 - SNS -- Canadian field pea exports maintained their record setting pace through the end of January, setting a new individual record for the month and keeping season to date shipments at their highest level in the history of the industry in Canada.

The 2011 calendar year started with port clearances in January setting a new record for the month at 195,115 metric tons (MT), down from the 230,741 MT shipped the previous month but well above the 124,320 MT shipped during the same month last year.

This lifted field pea shipments for the first half of the 2010-11 marketing year to 1,354,256 MT, roughly 545,000 MT above the same period last season.
