Canada's Dec 31 Inventory Should Decline

VANCOUVER - Jan 29/11 - SNS -- The coming stocks in all positions report from Statistics Canada will probably generate controversy within the specialty crop industry, most likely over lentils.

Looking at what is known about disappearance of all crops between August 1 and December 31, including official export trade data through the end of November, the total quantity of specialty crops on hand as of December 31, 2010 will likely approach 3.69 million metric tons (MT).

This is at the upper end of pulse and specialty crop inventory levels in Canada, but down from the 4.059 million MT on hand at the same time the previous year and similar to the 3.68 million MT on hand at the end of 2008.
