Reluctant Selling Supports Beans

VANCOUVER - Jan 21/11 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets maintained their firm footing during the past week.

North American markets were helped by reluctant selling by growers, who believed bids were not competitive with those for other crops.

This was reflected in the spot market index from dry edible beans in the United States, which rose 29 points on the week to finish at 1005, topping 1000 points for the first time since August. Improved inter-dealer markets were reflected in growers bids in the United States, with the index for grower bids gaining 34 points to finish at 924.
