VANCOUVER - Jan 5/11 - SNS -- Canadian field pea exporters moved a record quantity of peas through Vancouver, Thunder Bay and Churchill in 2010, eclipsing the previous calendar year record by 18%.

The year also ended with port clearances in December setting a new record for the month at 230,741 metric tons (MT), up from the 131,108 MT shipped the previous month and well above the 124,295 MT shipped during the same month last year.

This lifted field pea shipments for the first five months of the 2010-11 marketing year to 1,159,141 MT, roughly 475,000 MT above the same period last season.
