Ongoing Movement Support Peas
VANCOUVER - Nov 13/10 - SNS -- North American field pea markets continued to strengthen through the past week against ongoing export movement of peas in Canada and USDA PL-480 food aid demand in the United States.
Canadian exporters have already moved a record quantity of field peas during the first four months of the current marketing year. While there are only two more vessels nominated to lift peas, ongoing tender activity from India's state trading companies is wrongly interpreted by many growers as a sign demand will not slow.
During the week, the USDA bought 1,620 metric tons (MT) of split yellow peas and issued tenders to buy another 3,750 MT.
