Myanmar Pulse Exports Improve in August

VANCOUVER - Nov 3/10 - SNS -- Pulse exports from Myanmar remain sharply below last year's levels, with movement by the end of August off almost 45% from the same period last year, though shipments during the month managed to rise above year earlier levels for the first time in 10 months.

Myanmar's bean and pulse exports in August 2010 totaled 72,791 metric tons (MT), up 3% from the 70,334 shipped the same month last year. India remains the most important destination , accounting for just over 81% of all pulse movement.

Matpe accounted for 68% of the total exports, followed by Toor Whole (Pigeon pea) 17% and Mung bean 9%.
