Canada's Weekly Exports 421,700 MT

WINNIPEG - May 30/02 - STAT -- Export clearances of all grains and oilseeds shipped from Canada total 17,124,700 metric tons (MT) so far this marketing year down 3,764,500 MT from the 20,889,200 moved last year.

The latest report from the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) summarized weekly product movement through licensed primary and terminal elevator facilities for the week ending May 26.

Grower deliveries during the week included 105,700 MT wheat; 36,000 MT durum; 4,700 MT oats; 25,500 MT barley; 300 MT rye; 8,300 MT flax; 43,300 MT canola; and no corn.

The CGC pegged total exports during the week at 421,700 MT . On the grain side this included including 220,600 MT wheat; 94,700 MT durum; 3,200 MT oats; 42,200 MT barley; 100 MT rye; and no corn.

Exports so far during the 2001-02 season total 10,082,200 MT wheat down 651,800 from 10,734,000 MT last year and 2,769,900 MT durum down 49,700 from 2,819,600 MT last year.

Coarse grain export clearances so far this season total 772,700 MT oats down 160,100 from 932,800 MT last year; 858,100 MT barley down 797,000 from 1,655,100 MT last year; 8,900 MT rye down 36,000 from 44,900 MT last year; and 56,300 MT corn up 8,100 from 48,200 MT last year.

Oilseed exports now total 2,106,600 MT canola down 2,066,900 from 4,173,500 MT last year and 470,000 MT flax down 11,100 from 481,100 MT last year.

In addition, Statistics Canada indicates exports to the United States: 282 100 (271 900)  MT of Oats, 39 800 (31 200) MT of Rye, 8 000 (11 500) MT of Flaxseed, 16 300 (9 300) MT of Canola and 100 600 (43 600) MT of Corn between August 2001 and January 2002. Year ago figures are shown in brackets.

Shipments of oilseeds to domestic customers totalled 2,000 MT flax and 37,100 MT canola during the week. This lifted season to date totals to 470,000 MT flax down 11,100 from 481,100 MT last year; and 2,040,000 MT canola down 460,100 from 2,500,100 MT last year.

Domestic grain shipments included 29,400 MT wheat; 35,200 MT durum; and 3,200 MT oats. So far this year domestic buyers have taken 2,878,700 MT wheat up 247,600 from 2,631,100 MT last year; 722,700 MT durum up 164,300 from 558,400 MT last year; and 494,600 MT oats up 63,500 from 431,100 MT last year.

Other grains sales to domestic buyers include 36,900 MT barley; 100 MT rye; and 2,100 MT corn. Domestic purchases for the 2001-02 marketing year now total: 1,952,100 MT barley down 648,100 from 2,600,200 MT last year; 14,400 MT rye down 700 from 15,100 MT last year; and 86,400 MT corn down 3,300 from 89,700 MT last year.
